“My dream is that América de Cali has its own stadium and is the champion of the Copa Libertadores”

The victory of América de Cali against Junior last Sunday has left a good feeling in the environment of the scarlet cast that trusts the team that is growing in the Colombian League.

The Reds defeated the ‘Sharks’ 2-1 and reached 10 units in the standings and with two games less they have good expectations for what is to come.

Tulio Gómez, the largest shareholder of the American cast, was the special guest this Monday at La Tocata of El País where he referred to the current situation of the red institution.

“We are among the five best payrolls in the country. In the past it was poorly managed, now with Guimaraes it is something else. There are several players who have raised their level. We are calm with the work,” said Gómez.

America has been raising the performance of several of its figures where men like Joel Graterol, Marlon Torres, Carlos Sierra, among others, stand out.

One of those is the youthful Gianfranco Peña, scorer of the American winning goal, who experienced difficult moments on his arrival at the team.

“When Peña arrived, he did not pass the medical exams. My daughter Marcela saw him, she took him for three months to the La Candela field and there he recovered. He is young and I am sure he will give us a big hand,” he confessed.

The other side of the coin in America is experienced by the Spanish midfielder Iago Falque, who was again absent in the previous match.

Tulio spoke about what the Iberian footballer has suffered. “Falque is going to have to take a bath with rue. He has a medical problem and that’s why he couldn’t be in the last engagement.”

One of the points moved in recent days in the circles is the issue of the possibility that America can have its own stadium.
A situation that is already detected as a necessity due to the multiple commitments that Pascual Guerrero has and that force the reds to look for a stage.

“My dream is that America has its own stadium and is the champion of the Copa Libertadores. The construction of the stadium will be carried out by a foreign investment fund, we do not have money for that investment, we must focus on the sports part,” explained the executive.

Gómez indicated that this stadium should be to host various events, that it be self-sustaining and that it not have the same problems that afflict the Deportivo Cali stadium in Palmaseca.

Finally, Tulio commented that he considers that America is ready to fight for the championship title, despite not having the best payroll in Colombia.

“America is here to fight for the championship. They beat Junior who is always a favorite, this is a good team that combines a good coaching staff and good players,” he concluded.
