Municipal swimming pools, summer swimming: a

The ephemeral pools set up by the City of Paris, including two new ones respectively in the 14th (Didot) and the 18th arrondissement (Poissonniers), welcomed more than 69,000 visitors in five weeks (figures as of 08/15/2022).

In addition to offering safe bathing areas, many sporting and recreational activities are offered in these places, such as table tennis, badminton, archery, rock climbing and even gym classes. An offer that works, since the City of Paris records an increase in attendance of 32% in 2022 compared to 2019.

With regard to municipal swimming pools, attendance in July was more than 300,000 visitors, which is comparable to the pre-pandemic period.

Ten swimming pools out of a total of forty are also currently closed for work, the summer period being conducive to renovations. During the summer, the closures are in fact compensated by the offer of ephemeral pools, and this planning makes it possible to reduce the impact on school swimming and sports associations.

Since mid-July and the lifting of the main notices, only a limited number of lifeguards have maintained their strike movement and the number of swimming pools affected is between 0 and 3 per day.

At the start of the school year, Parisians will be able to (re)discover their favorite and renovated pools: the Lagatu, Château Landon, Aspirant Dunand, Dauvin, Cour des Lions, Dunois, Montherlant, La Plaine, Vallerey and Saint Germain swimming pools.
