MotoGP, the results of the Austrian GP: victory for Bagnaia. HIGHLIGHTS

And there are five. Fifth seal of Bagnaiathe most successful rider so far in 2022. But Fabio Quarterly was there, behind him, the real surprise of this race where the Ducati they left in force, where they made their way through the Desmosedici on their favorite circuit, it seemed impossible. They are the two protagonists of the Austrian GP: Pecco with the third consecutive victory that relaunches its world championship ambitionsand Fabio able to shrug off, with patience, almost all Desmosedici that he had in front and on his side. “One of my best races, really difficult – said the Frenchman -. I pushed myself to the limittwice I risked crashing, each lap was like a qualifying. “It’s difficult to be happier, considering the conditions: three Ducati in front of him and two to the side. On the first lap Fabio was in fact fifth, even surpassed by an arrembante Vinales, in focus only in the first part of the race. Three laps later the Spaniard from Aprilia lost two positions and slowly slipped back to thirteenth place. Ducati can celebrate the six bikes placed in the top ten places, but the podium could have been even wider. Five laps to go Quarterly he was in fact on the run for third place, struggling with Miller e Martin, who with a straight to the new variant had meanwhile opened the door to the leader of the World Championship. To then slip into the last corner in an attempt to overtake Miller (Pramac’s Spaniard finally finished eleventh). Halfway through the race, the Ducati patrol he had already given up on an arrembante Bastianinithe favorite of the eve (he started from pole position) went out on the sand and then retired due to the damaged front rim. Meanwhile, Pecco managed to keep his teammate at a distance who instead ended up slipped by Quartararo in the change of direction at the new chicane, a piece of skill that reflects the class of the Frenchman (vote 10 to overtake). The duel for the podium seems more and more a reserved matter between Bagnaia and Quartararo, even if Aleix Espargaró maintains second place, but is 32 points behind. The Spaniard signed a race above expectations: he started ninth, at the end of a weekend where he never shone in practice and was affected by the after-effects of a fractured heel in Great Britain. And he finished sixth. Among the positive surprises also the fifth place of Marini (best result in career) and the ninth place of Bezzecchi (both drivers of the Mooney VR46 team in the top ten), while among the negative news there is to report the fall of Mir on the first lap, which caused him the fracture of the right ankle.
