Moselle. Mittersheim, a lively beach between waters and forests

In summer, the beach at Mittersheim has a real holiday feel to it. As soon as you arrive at the large equipped area facing the waters of Lac Vert, the change of scenery is there: camping and family atmosphere. No need to go far, in the end, to find a nature and swimming destination that will make you forget everyday life. The Moselle-Sud holiday site has it all: it is large, nature is omnipresent there with its view of the surrounding forests, and, since the work completed during the Covid crisis, it has become modern.

The vast esplanade overlooking the beach is surrounded by restaurants, a refreshment bar, games for children, an inflatable structure, a show stage. And a building housing the equipment for nautical activities with a launching pontoon: pedal boat, paddle, kayak… A little further, in the middle of the water, the children have fun on another inflatable structure. Next door, which is calmer, families and groups of friends enjoy the beach in the shade of tall trees and swimming when the cyanobacteria are not involved.

“Our strength is to have always remained faithful to our three basic principles: sport, nature, family, notes Mayor Jean-Luc Huber. We offer activities accessible to all, and consuming little or no energy. » Laser game, supervised or unsupervised bike outings, archery, combat archery (paintball type), canoeing on the Saar, petanque, Thai boxing, team sports… The list is long. “A new original activity is also very popular,” says Sébastien Micault, director of the leisure area. Rescue cross training teaches first aid gestures associated with sports activities. It is reinforced by the offer of the sailing club of the Union Sportif de Mittersheim.

Something to delight users of the vast campsite, bringing together pitches for owners, long-term tenants or passing holidaymakers, chalets and mobile homes. The port, its motorhome area and the Nature and Sport center dedicated to groups complete the accommodation offer. Each weekend, specific events are programmed, making the attractiveness of the site ever stronger.

The environment of the Mittersheim recreation area lends itself perfectly to exercise. “Here, nature is omnipresent, recalls Jean-Luc Huber. We have forest all around us, and Lac Vert includes a Natura 2000 area. It is a great site for bird watching, known to many specialists. “Fishermen, too, as much as vacationers or ornithologists, are delighted with the windfall.
