Soledad Rojas has two daughters, María Francisca, 21, and Bernardita, 16. The oldest was the first to become interested in archery. After trying various sports, she decided on this discipline because she needed something to help her concentrate. because he wanted to complement it with chess, a sport that he also practiced.

There was only one coach in Linares, and he left the club. The parents of the athletes spoke with Soledad, since she had the archery monitor course, and they asked her to take charge: “I was a partner in an events company and I didn’t have much time, but I accepted. I kept perfecting myself and I definitely chose to bet on sport and train more athletes,” said Sole.

“Today I dedicate myself only to this, every year I look for new improvements. It has not been easy, but I could not do anything else,” Rojas confessed. Once she started her coaching job, Bernadette, her youngest daughter, also started training. Both athletes began constant work and practiced the same modality. A year ago, Bernadette, on the recommendation of a head coach, switched to the compound bow.

For Soledad, being able to train her daughters has a bit of everything: “First, the possibility of sharing dreams together and making plans to achieve them, it’s always a challenge. Certainly we don’t always succeed, but they always want to move forward and that motivates me every day. There are moments of anguish where I just have to be a coach, and clearly as they say, they love their mother, but we have been learning. ”

The sporting achievements of his daughters are several. María Francisca has obtained national rankings and national finals since she was 15 years old. In 2018, she qualified for the specific Pan American that was held in Medellín and was eighth. In 2021 she got the country quota, also in Medellín, for the Cali Games. Unfortunately Chile lost the quota in the new classification. Currently, she is preparing to qualify for the specific Pan Americans that are qualifiers for Santiago 2023.

On the other hand, Bernadette has also had national results since she was 10 years old. In compound bow, today she is the South American champion in the mixed team, a result that she obtained at the South American Youth Games in Rosario this 2022. She is also the two-time individual champion in the same games and traveled to the Bolivarian Games of Valledupar in Colombia. She will soon travel to the Dominican Republic for the Merengue Cup and World Ranking, in addition, she is classified for the Odesur Games in Asunción.
