The number 23 jersey that former American basketball player Michael Jordan wore in the first NBA Finals in 1998 against the Utah Jazz will be sold today at an auction house with a base price of $5,000,000.
The star Jordan, for many the best player in the history of the NBA, was looking for his sixth title with the Bulls and he got it by winning the series 4-2. Today the shirt he wore in the first game of the six is worth that figure for Sotheby’s auction house in London.
In June 1998, the Chicago Bulls played the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City, and Jordan was just brilliant scoring 33 points in 45 minutes.
The 1997-1998 season is known as one of the most popular seasons among fans of the star. That period is even known as the “last dance,” which was the subject of a series of documentaries about Jordan’s career.
Brahm Wachter, a spokesman for the auction house, considers this jersey to be the most important piece of Jordan’s career.
“He was reaching the height of his abilities and, at the same time, he was looking for what he felt was his last shot at an NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls.”Wather said.
