Mercato: Borussia Dortmund, the last track for Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)?

Cristiano Ronaldo has still not found a buyer less than two weeks before the end of the transfer window. Rumors have however multiplied for the Portuguese star, but no leads have come to fruition so far. The latest leads to Borussia Dortmund. The American media CBS announced on Thursday that Jorge Mendes, the famous agent of the Manchester United striker, wishes to start negotiations with the leaders of the German club with a view to a possible transfer.

A problematic salary

There is interest on both sides. For Cristiano Ronaldo, that of finding a club which will play in the next Champions League and which plays in a championship where it has never played before. For the BvB, that of having a world-class scorer pending the return of Sébastien Haller, recruited to replace Erling Haaland. Shortly after his transfer, the Ivorian learned that he was suffering from testicular cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy. The date of his return to the field remains to be determined.

But the Dortmund track still has lead in the wing. The leaders of the German club have already made up for Haller’s absence by recruiting Anthony Modeste. And according to Bild, the Portuguese star’s salary and age, 37, would significantly limit Borussia’s interest in him. It is therefore not impossible that this file does not go much further, while CBS refers to the BvB as the “last option” by Ronaldo…
