Mercato: A base of 12M€ for the transfer of Kehrer

Announced at €16m yesterday by the German press, the transfer of Thilo Kehrer will initially bring in €12m for PSG, the rest being linked to various bonuses. An operation that remains financially interesting for PSG.

After arriving in London yesterday, Thilo Kehrer is set to officially become a West Ham United player on Wednesday, with the German international having undergone his medical on the heels of his arrival. Announced at € 16 million by the press across the Rhine, the transfer of the German international should actually bring in a little less for PSG. As explained by the English and German media, the amount of compensation is actually €12 million. Bonuses are also present in the transfer and the latter could go up to 15 or 16M€, the sources not agreeing on the amount of the bonuses in question.

Recovering at least €12m for a player bought for €37m four years ago almost to the day may seem like a fairly average financial operation for PSG, even if Kehrer’s performance during his stay in Paris did not really help him. value despite an overall satisfactory final season. Considering the weight of the player in the club’s accounts, the operation is however far from bad, and not only because Paris will save his salary.

Purchased for €37m in the summer of 2018 for a period of five years, Kehrer’s annual amortization was €7.4m. With only one year of contract remaining, this was also his net book value for PSG since June 30. In other words, any sale of Kehrer above €7.4 million during the summer represented a capital gain from an accounting point of view. With a transfer of at least €12 million, the book value is therefore €4.6 million.
