2008 Beijing Olympic Judo men’s over 100 kg gold medalist and mixed martial artist Satoshi Ishii made his debut as a professional boxer at Osaka’s Edion Arena on the 14th, defeating Shuho Takayama (Spider Nemoto) 2-0 in the fourth round of the heavyweight division. I passed the judgment. He said, “I wanted to try it once,” and breathlessly said, “It was fun.”

Taking advantage of his physique, which weighs 9.5 kilograms more than his opponent, he cornered him into the corner and attacked with heavy left hooks. However, he was not able to win a down, and said frankly, “Mochi is a rice cake shop. Contrary to what I imagined, there were some difficult parts. He will never become a world champion.”

Ishii turned to mixed martial arts after the Beijing Olympics.
