Marcus/Kevin Advance to Round of 16

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo started the 2022 Badminton World Championship smoothly. They won two straight games to qualify for the last 16.

Marcus/Kevin, who got a bye in the first round, just competed today, Wednesday (24/8/2022). Facing Jaromir Janacek/Tomas Svejda (Czech Republic) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Marcus/Kevin won 21-14, 21-13.

Marcus/Kevin had left behind 7-9 in the first game. However, they took four straight points to take an 11-9 lead at the interval.

After the interval, Marcus/Kevin continued to maintain their lead until they won the first game. They continued their dominance in the second game and won the game within 25 minutes.

Marcus/Kevin will next face England’s Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in the last 16 of the 2022 Badminton World Championships.

From the mixed doubles number, Indonesia lost one of its representatives. Zachariah Josiahno Sumanti/Hediana Julimarbela must admit the superiority of Robin Tables/Selena Piek (Netherlands) 19-21, 16-21.
