For the previous two seasons, Antoni has represented the Dutch flagship Amsterdam “Ajax”, scoring 25 goals and 22 assists in a total of 82 matches. He has been in the Manchester club’s sights for several months, and the 22-year-old Brazilian has only played in Europe under the leadership of the new “United” head coach Erik ten Haag. Ten Haag started his work with the English club this summer, coming directly from “Ajax”.

The amount of the Brazilian footballer’s transfer is estimated at 100 million euros. 95 million “Ajax” will receive guaranteed, but five more will come if various bonuses are fulfilled. Antoni will become the second most expensive signing in United’s history. Back in 2016, the club broke the then world transfer record and bought Paul Pogba for 105 million euros.

Such a large amount has never been paid for a football player playing in the Netherlands before. Antony’s transfer will also become the fourth most expensive transfer of all time in the English Premier League.

Before joining the “Ajax” team, Antoni represented his native Brazilian club “Sao Paulo”. Last year he also made his debut in the national team, for which he has two goals in nine games.

Manchester’s next match is against Leicester City on Thursday, but the Brazilian needs a work permit to play in that game.

After two losses in the first two games of the season, Manchester United have won the next two and are currently eighth in the Premier League standings with six points.
