LZ Multikraft Wels: Sabrina Filzmoser wins gold twice at the World Games

She can’t stop it: A year ago, Sabrina Filzmoser (Multikraft Wels) announced her retirement at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, but now the police athlete has won two gold medals at the World Games in Rotterdam.

FOWL, ROTTERDAM. “When the employer calls, you can’t say no. Especially not when it comes to World Games,” said Filzmoser with a smile. A total of around 10,000 police and fire brigade athletes took part in the “World Games Police & Fire”. The judo competitions were well attended with participants from 22 nations, above all Japan.
After a twelve-hour journey in a minibus to the Dutch province of South Holland, Filzmoser won all three fights early in the women’s category up to 63 kilograms. In the final, she defeated Taiwan’s Chang by pinning. Because things were going so well for the woman from Thalheim, she also started in the Masters competition – and secured her second gold medal. “It was a nice experience,” said a delighted Filzmoser, who showed off her routine in Rotterdam.

Welser fifth at Youth Olympic Games

At the Youth Olympic Games in Banská Bystrica, Issa Naschcho (Multikraft Wels) could dream of a medal. He fought his way into the semifinals with three ippon wins, but then lost to eventual gold medalist Joshua De Lange (Netherlands) and in the bronze fight to Artak Torosyan (Armenia). The 18-year-old from Wels – he is the cousin of Olympic bronze medalist Shamil Borchashvili – ultimately took the thankless fifth place. “Issa was already on the podium in third place this year in the Junior European Cup in Lignano and is considered a great hope for the future,” congratulated Multikraft junior consultant Michael Winkler on the strong performance of the junior.
