Lionel Messi’s removal from the list of nominees for the 2022 Ballon d’Or is an insult to football

BOLASPORT.COM – Argentine football pundit Gaston Recondo said the organizers of the Ballon d’Or had insulted football for not including Lionel Messi in the list of 30 nominees for the prestigious award.

There was a surprise in the list of 30 Ballon d’Or nominees released by France Football as the organizer of the event on Saturday (13/8/2022).

Because the most Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, was not nominated.

In fact, Messi has always been on the list of nominees for the Golden Ball trophy from 2006 to 2021.




The 35-year-old megastar has won seven trophies, including the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021 editions.

This is said to have provoked the emotions of the Argentinean public.

Argentine football pundit Gaston Recondo even went so far as to say that France Football had insulted football for omitting Messi’s name from the list.

“We don’t know whether to be upset, angry, laugh or make a joke,” Recondo said as quoted by BolaSport.com from TyC Sports.
