Robert Lewandowski has been officially introduced as a new Barcelona player. The Polish bomber got the number 9 jersey previously used by Memphis Depay.
Barcelona signed Lewandowski from Bayern Munich in July 2022. The Blaugrana redeemed the 33-year-old player for 45 million euros (Rp 782 billion) and tied the contract until 2026.
Lewandowski had followed pre-season matches before being officially introduced at Camp Nou. He has featured in three games and is yet to score his first goal for Barcelona.

At the official introduction, Lewandowski got the number 9. The number is indeed identical to Lewangoalski while in uniform for Bayern Munich and the Polish national team.
Barcelona’s 9 jersey number originally belonged to Memphis Depay who is still under contract with The cules. Lewandowski wore the number 12 shirt when appearing in Barca’s pre-season match.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken about giving Lewandowski the number 9 jersey. According to him, it was a joint decision and Depay agreed to hand over his number.
“This has been the club’s decision, for the advertising image, and we think it is right. This is done with respect to Memphis, who understands it perfectly,” said Laporta when introducing Lewandowski at Camp Nou, quoted from Sports world.
The submission of the number 9 jersey to Robert Lewandowski confirmed the speculation that Memphis Depay was not included in Barcelona’s plans. The Dutch striker reportedly wants to leave Camp Nou and has been linked with two European teams, Juventus and Chelsea.
