Ligue 1 clubs are failing to retain their stars for the long term
The hegemony of PSG in France does not allow teams to offer ambitious sports projects to great footballers
Everything points to the Lyon Olympics you will lose your star, Lucas Paquetáwith a week to go before the end of the mercado. West Ham would have put 60 million euros on the table, an irrefutable figure for a club that, cAt most, it can aspire to finish the domestic competition in second place.
This is the reality of Ligue 1 clubsthat have very difficult to retain their best players against the total hegemony of PSG in France. In the last ten years, the Parisian club has let two titles slip away.
In 2016/17, an incredible Monaco he snatched the championship from them with a sublime 95-point season. That team brought together world-class soccer players such as Fabinho, Bernard Silva, Lemar, Falcao, Saint–Maximin or a young man Mbappe that began to appear before the whole world.
The last team to face PSG was the Lillein 2020/21, which finished the tournament with 83 points, one more than the Parisians.
This little competition is due to the fact that, as a general rule, the big clubs in the French league can aspire to, at most, second place. a sports project insufficient on many occasions to retain the big stars that stand out in the competition.
Paquetá will not be the first case, not even remotelythere are many other footballers who, after exploding in France and in exchange for a good financial sum, left the competition in search of more sporting incentives.
