• World number 28 Petra Kvitova defeated American Madison Keys (#24) 6(6):7, 6:4 and 6:3, who previously eliminated Alon Ostapenko, Igo Švojntek and Jelena Rybakin.
• The outcome of this match was decided by the success in winning break points and using them – Kvitova 5/12, Keys 2/8.
• 32-year-old Kvitova first became the vice-leader of the ranking back in October 2011, but was last there in May 2019. Last February, she was eighth, but continued to slide lower.
• The current success will allow Kvitova to move up to the 20th position on Monday, but in the event of the championship title, she will overtake Ostapenko and occupy the 15th position.
