Kimmich has become the “secret captain” at Bayern Munich

Joshua Kimmich has developed into an absolute leader and top performer at FC Bayern in recent years. With the departure of Robert Lewandowski, the 27-year-old has once again climbed up the team hierarchy. The midfielder also has a very close relationship with Julian Nagelsmann and has become a kind of “secret captain” under the Bayern coach.

Kimmich is not only a spokesman on the pitch, the midfielder is also taking on more and more responsibility at Bayern. The German national player is considered the designated successor to FCB captain Manuel Neuer. After Robert Lewandowski left, Kimmich was only recently promoted to the third captain in Munich and is soon to succeed the two “old stars” Neuer and Thomas Müller.

Kimmich and his special task

As reported by “Sport BILD”, Kimmich has also been given a special task in the new season. Accordingly, he is jointly responsible for ensuring that the team meets regularly for “voluntary team evenings” after home games. Nagelsmann attaches great importance to Bayern moving closer together as a team. The “spirit of the group” is to be promoted more strongly through joint team evenings.

Kimmich and Nagelsmann already have a very close relationship, which should go beyond that between player and coach. Kimmich’s word not only carries weight in the Bayern dressing room, Nagelsmann also repeatedly includes the midfield boss in his tactical considerations. According to “Sport BILD”, the midfielder has even become Nagelsmann’s most important contact within the team. This is also reflected in the fact that the two are in regular contact away from the playing and training ground via phone or messenger.
