The Royal quickly took the lead past Vinicius Junior, but a goal just before half-time seemed to cost the Spanish defending champion the victory. In a hard-fought second half, there were no chances and goals for a long time. Until Karim Benzema showed up like a little devil from a box in the last minutes to place the winning goal past his compatriot Lecomte. In the mad final phase, with more than ten minutes of extra football, Lecomte was still excluded and captain Cabrera had to take place in the goal with the shirt of the substitute goalkeeper. He immediately turned around on a free kick from Benzema again.
Thibaut Courtois had an important part in the victory, as he prevented a Catalan goal halfway through the second half with a super reflex. For Eden Hazard it was nail-biting watching from the couch. A replacement was not granted to him by Ancelotti.
The late win puts Real Madrid in the lead in La Liga along with Real Betis. And just leave the confrontation between the two teams in Bernabeu next week on the program. To look forward to!
