Just 6 Minutes of Debut in Serie A, this Lazio goalkeeper was immediately expelled by the referee!

It’s really bad luck Louis Maximian. Just six minutes to feel the atmosphere A leaguehe was immediately sent off by the referee for a ridiculous foul he made.

Maximiano, 23 years old, was only recruited about a month ago Lazio from Granada. The Portuguese goalkeeper was then lined up by coach Maurizio Sarri as the first choice in the first week of the Italian League this season against Bologna, Sunday (14/5/2022).

But instead of making a brilliant debut, Maximiano actually made a blunder that cost his team. It happened when his team was being attacked by Bologna.

Starting from a through ball that was directed to Marko Arnautovic, Maximiano who was closer to the ball tried to catch it. But herein lies the ridiculous. He caught the ball outside the box!

His position is not too conspicuous, because it is not far from the edge of the penalty box. Therefore, the referee Luca Massimi who led the match had to check the replay of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Sure enough, the ball was caught outside the area it should have been.

Maximiano was immediately given a red card as a result of this because he was deemed to have done it on purpose. Lazio had to play with 10 men for most of the game. Initially, the conditions were very tough. They conceded first through Arnautovic’s penalty in the 38th minute.

However, two yellow cards received by Adama Soumaoro in the first half made the situation draw again in the second half. With conditions 10 vs 10, Lazio rose and won 2-1 through an own goal by Lorenzo De Silvestri in the 68th minute and Ciro Immobile’s kick in the 79th minute.

Maximiano was able to smile at the end of the match. The ‘sin’ is not very big.

“We were cursed at the start of the game, seeing all the incidents that cost us, but we stayed focused and were able to turn things around. It was not easy at all with the temperature of 32-33 degrees in the first week of the season. We also played 10 men throughout the game, including in injury time,” said Sarri.

“At half-time I was happy to see that everyone believed we could turn the situation around,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
