Julio Pérez, new sports coordinator for Soria Basketball

In 1992, he was the first Soriano with the title of level 3 national coach. He directed Infantil A.

The Soria Basketball Club (CSB) has taken an important step forward and has strengthened its technical organization chart with the appointment of Julio Pérez as the new sports coordinator. The Soria coach assumes the functions that Fernando Flores has performed in the previous four seasons, who has left Soria to train the team that Xerez Club Deportivo de Cádiz has in the Men’s First Division. Pérez’s option is the best of those that the CSB was considering because from the beginning it was looking for a person who, with proven qualifications, combined a marked orientation towards working with the base. The Soria Basketball Club has pre-registered 17 teams for next season and 12 of them will be made up of children under 15 years of age.

Pérez trained the Infantil A basketball club last season, an entity that he joined a campaign earlier (in 2020-21) in support of the men’s children’s team. But his relationship with the benches started in 1987, when he was already directing school teams at the Santa Teresa de Jesús School. As a player, he started at Colegio San José and continued to be active in the old CSB until the junior category. In 1992 he became the first Soriano to obtain the title of level 3 national coach. He directed the first federated girls’ team that existed in Soria -the ADES Escolapias-, which opened the doors of the coaching staff of the Basketball Federation of Castilla y León, with which he achieved a title of champion of Spain.
