[전남 세계타임즈=양준호 기자] On the 27th, Jeollanam-do held the ‘Jeonnam-do and Jiangsi-seong Youth Baduk Exchange Exhibition’ at Suncheon Korea Baduk Middle and High School to strengthen friendship through ‘Sudam (手談)’.

Hosted by Jeonnam Province and organized by the Jeonnam Do Baduk Association, this event was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the sisterhood relationship between Jeollanam-do and Jiangxi Province in China, to promote friendship and promote exchanges between the youth of the two regions, who are the future leaders.

In 2018, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the sisterhood relationship with Zhejiang Province in China, Jeollanam-do began youth exchanges with the two regions’ strengths, Zhejiang Baduk and Jeollanam-do badminton. Then, in 2019, Jiangxi Province also started to exchange sports in two sports, table tennis and soccer, and strengthened youth friendly exchanges with China through mutual cross visits.

However, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the youths of the two regions did not have a chance to meet face-to-face, but this year, 30 elementary, middle and high school students were selected as representatives through Jiangxi and Baduk as a medium, and online non-face-to-face group competition was held.

Kim Ki-pyeong, head of the sports industry in Jeollanam-do, said, “Through youth sports exchanges with China’s affiliated regions, we have opened a forum for youth diplomacy to experience and understand international capabilities and the cultures of the two countries. I look forward to sharing friendships while traveling freely.”
