Ivasinevic on Djokovic and the US Open: “I have no hope”

The drawbacks for Novak Djokovic do not stop. And as happened in Australia, the 21-time Grand Slam champion has between difficult and impossible to be able to travel to the United States, since both countries have the same restrictions of not letting in people who are not vaccinated. With the Serbian tennis player’s participation in the US Open in the air, his coach, Goran Ivasinevic, was blunt about this possibility.

“Novak is going to do everything possible, perhaps with a special visa, but there are only two weeks to go. Personally, I have no hope. I don’t think Biden will change the rules before the tournament starts.”, expressed the Croatian coach. In addition, the 2001 Wimbledon champion described “nuisance” what “If you are vaccinated but you are positive you can enter the United States, but they ban you if you are not vaccinated and you are negative”.

Thus, the three-time champion of the US Open (2011, 2015 and 2018) and finalist in the last edition, continues to train in Montenegro less than a month before the start of the last Grand Slam of the season, and at the expense of an unlikely change in regulations that would allow him to travel to the United States and play the US Open. Even with everything and with his participation in between, the Serbian is optimistic that a favorable solution will be taken for him.
