The Bidasoa Sports Club held its ordinary general assembly on Tuesday, with the assistance of 76 members and, among other issues, approved a budget of 1,503,439 euros. It is a figure significantly higher than the 1,130,000 euros of last season, although then it was growing in various ways. 8% of the budget is allocated to the purchase of advertising LEDs, a requirement of the league for the following season.
To mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic at the level of ticket sales and number of subscribers, special aid came from the Higher Sports Council (102,000 euros) and the Basque Government (41,000). In addition, the sum of the termination clauses of Kauldi Odriozola and Xoan Ledo was 90,000 euros. They are round numbers that yield a total of extraordinary income of 235,000 euros. Thanks to them, the club closed the season with a positive balance of 99,788 euros, because unforeseen expenses must also be taken into account, such as those derived from Covid and injuries (56,000 euros compared to 17,000 budgeted), from an extra trip in Europe (12,000) and the increase in travel and accommodation in the league (10,000), for example.
In this context, Igor Barandiaran, economic manager of the directive, pointed out that “we are in a stable situation after the pandemic. We have reversed the negative trend that led to the withdrawal of a powerful sponsor three seasons ago and we have increased the number of sponsors – around fifty – and quantity – from 285,000 euros to 305,000.
In deference to the poor performance that they were able to get from their season ticket holders in the last two seasons due to Covid, the membership fees are maintained, which are as follows: adult, 140 euros; retired and junior, 95 euros; youth, 80 euros; children, 20 euros; unemployed, 80 euros; industrial, 250 euros; and family (two adults and two children under 14), 220 euros.
