BUCHAREST – The European Youth Cup 2022 took place from 25 to 28 July in the capital of Romania. The competition saw boys and girls under 21 and under 18 compete in the Olympic and Compound Archery disciplines.
The Italian selection also saw among its ranks two guys from the Maremmana Arcieri company, Ginevra Landi and Matteo Bilisari.
The Azzurrini are now veterans of international competitions, in fact they have participated in many tournaments bringing home several titles: Landi Bronze individual and team in Slovenia in 2021 and Bilisari Gold team in Slovenia 2021.
After the qualifying arrows, Ginevra Landi she finished in fourth place and Matteo Bilisari in twentieth. This allowed our athletes to enter the competition phase in individual clashes.
Ginevra Landi won the final, after defeating the athletes of: Poland, Great Britain, Romania.
In the final, Geneva brought home a fantastic silver medal, after a hard-fought match against Sebastian Victoria of the French national team.
Matteo Bilisari he is no exception, after defeating the representatives of Romania, Great Britain and Holland he must give way to the French athlete Bernardi Nicolas, still earning the final for the bronze. She barely touches the podium after a heated challenge with Germany representative Merkel Domenic.
In the team competition Italyof which both Landi and Bilisari are part, records winning a silver medal for the women’s selection (Roberta Di Francesco, Ginevra Landi, Lucia Mosna), who in the final gave way to the French national team. The Italian men’s national team, on the other hand, stopped at the final quanta defeated by the French selection.
As for the mixed team, that is, the team made up of male and female athletes, saw the Italian national team (Ginevra Landi and Francesco Gregori) stop at the final quanta defeated by Poland.
The experience gained by our athletes in these international stages is truly important, and is the crowning glory for the dedication and commitment they have put into it.
It also demonstrates how fertile and valid is the land where they grew up, that is the Maremmana arceri school. Over the years, this company has brought prestige to the city, counting among its ranks Italian and international champions. The sport of archery is counted among the “minor” sports. It only stands on the shoulders of companies, managers, coaches and volunteers who make enormous efforts to allow their members to practice this fantastic discipline. It is not surprising, therefore, the emphasis and enthusiasm that arouse in achieving these results. Without public subsidies, with very few and limited sponsors, Maremmana Arcieri is able to bring its athletes to the highest podiums, both nationally and internationally.
The next challenge for the Maremmana Arcieri Company is the Italian Targa Championship which will take place in Oderzo (TV) from 26 to 28 August.
The Azzurrini and the president Stefano Mazziinstead he received the call-up for the European youth championships, which will be held in Lilleshall in Great Britain from 13 to 21 August.
