From flirting with Boca to going to football in Turkey

The Uruguayan midfielder, who repeatedly expressed his desire to play for Xeneize, has no place at Arsenal. Galatasaray, his new club.

Lucas Torreira excited all the fans Boca with his visit to La Bombonera prior to the match against Corinthians for the return leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16. The Uruguayan came from being on loan to Fiorentina from Arsenal, where they don’t take him into accountso that the Xeneizes dreamed of their arrival. Torreira was expected to complete his transfer earlier this week. This Friday, the information from England indicates that everything is resolved and the Uruguayan confirmed his decision.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specializing in the European transfer market, the fee that the Premier League team will receive will be worth around €6 million. Arsenal paid €28m to bring Torreira to north London in 2018. There, he played 89 games in his first two years, until in 2020 and 2021 he went on loan to Atlético de Madrid and Fiorentina, respectively. With a year remaining on his current contract, a number of clubs became interested in him, including Fiorentina, Juventus, Roma and Valencia. But he’s going to play Turkey soccer.

Torreira and his desire to play in Boca

Football player had publicly stated his intention to arrive at Xeneize in June 2021after the death of his mother from coronavirus. In order to be close to his family in a difficult time, his idea was to advance a dream that he had already spoken about on several occasions. Nevertheless, could never come true.
