Four minutes from the end, Deportivo Cali let Palmaseca’s victory slip away

When everything was on track for Deportivo Cali to achieve its first victory in the Colombian League on Monday, four minutes from the end the frustration that has been accompanying the sugar team for a long time reappeared.

The clock marked 86 minutes and a long-suffering 2-1 victory over Unión Magdalena was achieved. However, a defensive oversight allowed the samarian team, through their scorer Ricardo Márquez, to reach 2-2 to the disappointment of the few fans who entered Palmaseca.

The hero of Deportivo Cali was Ángelo Rodríguez, who reached a double for the partial victory, confirming his great moment in recent days and confirming himself as the most effective of Máyer Candelo’s team.

But since carelessness is expensive, there were defensive blinks that the visitor took advantage of to take a valuable point from Palmaseca.
In the first half, Cali allowed Unión to handle the ball; There was not much marking in the midfield, and defensively there were advantages on the wings.

At 9 minutes the visitor almost achieved an Olympic goal after a corner kick taken by Diego Chávez.

And at 18 the visit reached 1-0 with a shot by Chávez himself who hit Germán Mera and caused debutant goalkeeper Miguel Sánchez to lose control.
The tie was close with a header from Guillermo Burdisso at 22 minutes that almost evacuated Jermein Peña from the line.

The night came to Cali with the expulsion of Teófilo at 30, after a violent foul on Márquez.

But that action curiously emboldened the sugar workers and seems to have affected the samariums, because four minutes later the tie came through Ángelo Rodríguez, the scorer of the last games, who took advantage of Velasco’s center.

At the end of the first half, a shot by Jermein Peña, from Unión, hit the post of the Caleño goal.

In the complementary period, Cali proposed a heads-up game despite having one less man, and that gave them results in the 57th minute with the 2-1 scored by Ángelo.

The striker stole a ball from Ronald Lora, went with all his might in search of the goal, and when he reached the area he took a left footed shot for a much-celebrated goal.

With 2-1, Cali controlled the match and was on the way to its first victory, but four minutes from the end they did not neutralize a pass to their area, they served it to Ricardo Márquez and the striker defined for 2-2.
In the last action Mera had the win, but Bejarano miraculously evacuated the ball.

There are already eight dates without winning that have the team in the lower part of the table.
