football season kicks off • newsrimini.it

Although formally started on 11 June, the season 2022-23 of San Marino football will emit the first cry Monday 8 August 2022 on the occasion of the draw of Calendar from San Marino Championship BKN301 e Titan Cup BKN301. The two competitions, for the first time in the history of home football, will have a title sponsor – as explained at the joint press conference last June. One of the novelties of the year just around the corner, as well as the awarding of the best player of the month.

In just over three days, the draws for the calendars of the two national competitions will take place at the Casa del Calcio in Montecchio (starting at 21:00). The BKN301 Titan Cup formula has been confirmed, which will be developed on a board with home and away matches involving the fifteen competing teams. The Tre Fiori, outgoing champion, will make their debut at the quarter-finals, where the seven winning teams from the double challenge of the previous round will land. Together with Andy Selva’s team, three others enjoy seeded status: they are La Fiorita, Tre Penne and Folgore who, by virtue of their performance over the last five years (calculated on the basis of the ranking), will not be able to cross each other except in the semifinals. What is certain is that we will have a different final from last year: Tre Fiori and Folgore, in fact, share the same portion of the board as well as Tre Penne and La Fiorita. In the event of a perfect tie at the end of the double challenge, there will be extra time and any penalties – at any height of the competition.

All the other combinations that will shape the main draw of the oldest San Marino football competition are free from seeding logic. The champion will receive trophy and qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The format of the BKN301 San Marino Championship was recently renewed: the team that will finish the thirty-day single round in the lead, will claim the national title and will directly access the UEFA Champions League Preliminary Round. The subsequent play-off phase will determine the runner-up who will represent San Marino football in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The post-season will involve the teams classified between the second and the seventh place, as well as the two further winning formations from the Preliminary Round which will compare the clubs positioned between the eighth and the eleventh place (8-11, 9-10 ). Challenges to be played on 180 ‘, as well as quarter-finals and semifinals: in the event of a repeated tie, it will be the best placed team in the regular season to pass the round. The finals for the second and fourth place will be the only ones that will be played in a single race and which, in the event of persistent balance, can lead to extra time and penalties.

At the regulatory level, the five substitutions to be used in a maximum of three slots are confirmed, without considering the intervals between them; in addition, the possibility of bringing up to 20 players in the list is introduced.

The teams will have the obligation to field at least one player of San Marino nationality, while at the disciplinary level the terms of the disqualification for the sum of yellow cards vary. The players will observe a disqualification after the fourth and eighth yellow cards accrued in the league, then every three further yellow cards. In the Titan Cup the disqualification takes place after two yellow cards.
