Hello and welcome to LIVE LIVE on the first day of competitions of the 2022 European Shooting Championships scheduled in Larnaca in Cyprus. All ready for the European clay pigeon shooting scheduled in Larnaca, Cyprus, from 26 August to 11 September: in Cyprus competitions reserved first for trap and then for skeet. It should be emphasized that for the seniors the first Olympic cards will be assigned: 8 passes will be up for grabs, 2 for each individual competition.
The trap specialists will hold the spot today and tomorrow, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 August, first with the qualifying sessions and then with the semifinals and the grand final. In the men’s front row it is impossible not to settle the Spaniard Alberto Fernandez, the British Matthew John Coward-Holley and the Croatians Josip and Anton Glasnovic. Behind them, then, are the representatives of the Czech Republic, respectively champion and Olympic vice-champion Jiri Liptak and David Kostelecky. Are you slots covered for a possible first pass of the round and the other two, towards the semifinals? They could be blues Daniele Resca and Mauro De Filippis who, in terms of technique the first and solidity the second, have shown in the past that they can battle with the other totems of the specialty. The luxury outsiders? The Slovak Erik Varga, the second Briton on the list, namely Aaron Heading, the Portuguese Joao Azevedo and then the eternal Giovanni Cernogoraz, third Croatian on the list.
Among women, the super favorite is Slovakian, reigning Olympic champion, Zuzana Stefecekova. She is in pole position, but be careful, because behind her the tussle could be very full of names. In the “big group” that occupies the second row there are the Spanish Fatima Galvez, the San Marino Alessandra Perilli, the Polish Sandra Bernal, but above all Jessica Rossi and Silvana Stanco, who can stand for capacity and career in their own right among the contenders for something important (remember that the first two classified of each contest “give” the Olympic card to their country). In the third row the Finns Noora Antikainen et al. Satu Makela-Nummela, a Cui addizionare la francese Carole Cormenier.
