Starting from 8 August, the DAZN app on the Sky Q decoder and the ZONA DAZN channel will be available. The latter will be activated if the user pays 5 euros / month, in addition to Sky subscriptions (the Sky TV package is sufficient) and DAZN (Standard or Plus). To see all the matches of each day you also need the Sky Calcio package (currently on offer at € 14.90 / month together with the Sky TV package).
Codacons states that the Sky-DAZN agreement is an “absurd and incredible mess” because users have to become accountants to “delve into the various possible combinations of subscriptions, activations and cross rates”. The total cost to follow Serie A on satellite or digital terrestrial with simultaneous viewing on two devices connected to different networks is 59.89 euros / month: DAZN Plus (39.99 euros / month) + Sky Calcio (14.90 euros / month) + DAZN AREA (5 euros / month).
According to the consumers’ association, the problems and complications are evident: not only are there no possibility of choosing a single package (at a reduced cost) or special discounts for those who are already customers (as was the case in the past). A very complicated solution is proposed a few days before the start of the championship, leaving users in a condition of great uncertainty about the contents themselves and the characteristics of the offer. The confirmation comes from the forums and social networks, where the protest of viewers is mounting right now.
Codacons will therefore ask for an urgent meeting with Sky and DAZN to arrive at “a just solution for the millions of fans involved”.
There is actually another “complication”. The DAZN Standard subscription costs 29.99 euros / month, but simultaneous viewing is only possible if the two devices are connected to the same network. DAZN has communicated that the activation of the ZONA DAZN channel is equivalent to having the vision via satellite or digital terrestrial always active. In practice, the Sky Q decoder occupies a “fixed place”, even if it is switched off and not connected to the network. This means that it will not be possible to see matches on another device with the Standard subscription.
