FIFA compares Linda Caicedo with Marta and Megan Rapinoe

The Colombian Women’s National Team qualified for the quarterfinals of the U20 World Cup in Costa Rica with a great performance by Linda Caicedo. The attacker, who had already been considered the best player in the victory against Germany, scored two great goals in the draw against New Zealand. Linda Caicedo is one of two players who have received the MVP award in two games during the current U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, together with the Japanese Maika Hamano who will have the chance to win the third prize this Wednesday when she faces the United States in the closing of Group D.

After qualifying for the quarterfinals, Linda Caicedo did not hide her desire to achieve the World Cup and surpass what was achieved by the Colombian National Team in previous editions, after having achieved fourth place in the 2010 German edition. The player also highlighted her teammates.

“We are here to become champions, to make history. Perhaps not many believe in Colombian football, but we have an excellent team that can do it,” the attacker told the official FIFA media after receiving the player of the match award.

Now the Colombian Women’s National Team will face Brazil in the quarterfinals of the U-20 World Cup. The match will be played on Saturday, August 20 at 9:00 pm (Colombian time) at the National Stadium of Costa Ricain San Jose.
