A source close to the amateur soccer team assured this medium that the ex-lateral from National Athletic He would be immersed in a new sports project in the North American country next to a former Colombian football player.
Díaz assumed last January the technical direction of the team from the capital of Cesar after announcing his retirement as an active player.
“Farid’s departure is due to an offer presented to him in the United States, honestly an offer that Team Blue had a hard time matching, therefore, by mutual agreement we decided to do without his services, he was very excited with what was happening with Blue Team, but opportunities in life must be seized. We understand him, he is a national emblem, an idol for many and we are proud to have had him in our ranks”confirmed Alison González, president of the Primera C team.

While he was in charge of the team, Farid Díaz did a great job ensuring, with several dates in advance, the classification to the next phase as the first of his group. In 16 games, those led by Díaz added 12 wins, 2 draws and only two losses.
“The fact that Farid was with us opened the door in places where Team Blue was not known, he is a World Cup player, an icon of national sport and, having been with us, helped us to be more recognized at a national level.”, pointed out the young sports leader.
Further details of Farid Díaz’s new challenge are not yet known, what is known is that his technical assistant, Idelfonso Pitre, will assume the reins of the Blue Team until the end of the 2022 season.
Farid Díaz and his fruitful sports career
The Colombian had a fruitful 19-year career that positions him as one of the most successful soccer players in Colombian professional soccer. Of those almost two decades of elite football, he lifted 13 trophies -12 of them with Atlético Nacional- and one more with Olimpia de Paraguay.
With the ‘Verdolaga’ team he celebrated 10 Leagues, a Copa Libertadores in 2016 and a Recopa Sudamericana in 2017. He also wore, although with less prominence, the shirts of Bucaramanga, Rionegro, La Equidad, Envigado, Pereira, Valledupar, Alianza Petrolera and Nacional. from Paraguay.
A separate chapter deserves its passage through the Colombia selection during the Pékerman era, in which he acted 13 times and also had the privilege -although he did not add minutes- of being part of the squad that played in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. His greatest appearance was in the 2016 Copa América in the United States and in the 2018 Russia Qualifiers.
