With a special dedication to the provincial governor Xiomara Cortes, the 2022 summer basketball tournament of the provincial sports directorate was successfully launched with the participation of eight teams.
The protocol act of the crowded activity was developed in the open fields of the parking lot of the Duarte sports complex with the assistance of well-known personalities from the Franco-Macori sports field.
Prior to the opening matches, a parade of the eight participating teams was held, then the national anthem was sung by those present.
The provincial director of sports Juan Libertado stressed that this event is held with the aim of bringing together dozens of young people from the main sectors of this city to encourage them to practice sports in the area.
He stressed that the sporting event is dedicated to the provincial governor Xiomara Cortes for her valuable contributions in favor of the youth of this city of Jaya.
“In Xiomara Cortes we have great allies of sports and the youth of this province since they have been supporting each of the local sports initiatives for a long time,” he emphasized.
He affirmed that the main sports fields of this municipality have been repaved and illuminated with a very important alliance between the sports ministry and the provincial government”.
He thanked the business community and officials of this city as well as Minister Francisco Camacho for their great contribution to make this event a great reality.
Then the provincial governor Xiomara Cortes handed out sports supplies and made the honorary kick-off to start the sports fair.
