Dortmund football player Schulz was supposed to attack his pregnant partner by kicking him in the stomach

The attack was to take place just two weeks before Schulz’s ex-partner Maria Pletz gave birth to a child together.

Moreover, the attack should not have been isolated. According to the newspaper Bild, Pletz made several accusations of domestic violence against the footballer, which should have occurred during 2020.

The prosecutor confirmed that the German authorities are dealing with the case and that a search of the footballer’s house should have already taken place.

The newspaper Bild obtained screenshots of the mutual communication between the former partners. “You hit me when I was defenseless in my own apartment,” writes Pletzová, and one of the reports should also mention the mentioned attack with a kick to the stomach. The soccer player was supposed to be wearing boots during it.

Borussia Dormund commented on the case through a public statement on Sunday. “The club took Saturday’s media reports of criminal charges concerning the private life of Nico Schulz as an opportunity for an immediate dialogue with the player and his advisers,” Dortmund said.

“The player denies the criminal charges. Nico Schulz has informed us that he will defend himself against these accusations through the courts and will also apply the presumption of innocence,” added Borussia representatives.

In the next part of the statement, the club distanced itself from any form of domestic violence. At the same time, he stated that he is not a party to the court proceedings, does not have access to the files, and for that reason cannot draw disciplinary measures from the situation at this time.

Schultz, who last represented Germany in 2020, is in his fourth season at Dortmund. He played just nine Bundesliga matches for Borussia last season. He was not in the lineup for the entire preparation and not even in the opening league round of the current season.
