Daria Kasatkina said she felt “freer and happier” after her decision to come out. During a conversation with a Russian vlogger, which was uploaded to YouTube last month, Kasatkina came out and revealed that she has a girlfriend.
Shortly after Kasatkina’s announcement, WTA players flooded the Russian with messages of support. “I don’t know how the social media filter works, but I’ve heard some really good things,” Kasatkina told WTA Insider.
“Not only from the west but also from people from my country. I’m really happy about it. As I saw, it was not only good for me, it also helped other people.
It’s great and I feel good. I’m happy with what I did and with myself, and that’s the most important thing.”
