The Olympic medalist, the Cuban Daima Beltrán, valued as positive the Judo Training Camp that takes place in the facilities of the Olympic Hostel under the auspices of Panam Sports.

The award-winning former athlete pointed out that the Training Camp, which brings together junior judokas from the Americas, seeks to raise the technical level of athletes from the continent for the next Olympic cycles.

The first Pan American Judo Camp, in which some 63 athletes from 10 countries participate, is sponsored by Panam Sports, under the coordination of the Pan American Judo Confederation (CPJ) and the collaboration of the Dominican Judo Federation.

Beltrán, who is the main sensei that directs the call, pointed out that the Pan American judokas need this type of dynamics so that they can achieve successful results in the main world events.

“If we want to be at the level of Asian judokas, we must continue with this type of dynamic, where all Pan-American judo converges in search of achieving the result,” said the Cuban, silver medalist at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games .

The also two-time World Judo Champion (Paris 1997 and Birmingham 1999), considered the experience of being part of the development of the new litter of judokas from the American continent as unique.

“It is a beautiful and wonderful experience to see these young people with a dream, in search of having a good result,” said the bearer of three gold medals at the Pan American Games (Mar de Plata 1995, Winnipeg 1999 and Santo Domingo 2003).

For the sports director of the CPJ, the Brazilian Amadeus Dias de Moura, the initiative is fundamental for the development of judo on the continent that concentrations such as the one being held at the Olympic Hostel continue to be held.

Dias revealed that CPJ has several camps scheduled in search of growing America’s judoka.
