After several weeks of analysis, after criticism and complaints, the news that we wanted to communicate to you has been confirmed. And it is that Cienfuegos sport has just achieved historic results in this 2022, finishing fourth at the School GamesIn addition to being located sixth in youth and pioneer category.
In the school section, the athletes from the Pearl of the South obtained the unprecedented fourth place with an accumulated score of 346 points, only ten units from Villa Clara. Two other traditional powers, Havana and Santiago de Cuba, made it one-two with 504 and 442 cards respectively.
The Cienfuegos performance featured the archery, rowing and women’s water polo titles. Other sports with commendable performances are canoeing, fencing and artistic gymnastics (2nd) and table tennis (3rd).
Athletics finished fourth, the best in Games history, while sailing, volleyball and taekwondo finished fifth. They are followed by triathlon (6), karate, weightlifting and swimming (7), rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming (8).

For their part, the young people from Cienfuegos reached the sixth step with 341.5 points, in a section where Havana (617.5), Santiago de Cuba (490.5) and Camagüey (401.5) occupied the podium.

A total of 194 units added the pioneers, valid to be located in sixth place. People from Santiago (340.5), people from Granma (319.5) and people from the capital (305) occupied the privileged places in this order.

In this category, Cienfuegos came in second place in canoeing, skating and archery. Chess, badminton, swimming and rowing finished third, while athletics and artistic gymnastics finished fourth. Taekwondo finished fifth and table tennis sixth.
As if that were not enough, we learned that, even without officially calculating some results, Cienfuegos remains among the first five provinces after concluding the actions of twenty sports in the first category.
It is also news that, as a reward for completeness, our territory has been selected as the venue for the official opening of the next High Performance National School Games.
