It was not the best way to start the US Open adventure for the Argentine tennis player. Carabelli ended up losing in two sets against a Celikbilek who used his best tennis and experience on this type of surface to prevail in straight sets against the Argentine’s solid and seasoned tennis, that was not enough against the greater power and the greater determination of the Ottoman player when he was down in both sets.

Carabelli says goodbye

Ugo’s loss does not do justice to a match in which the Argentine could even force the third set, as he had a break lead in both sets. Carabelli began the match by breaking his rival’s serve in the first few games of the match, and was imposing his solid pace from the back of the court to provoke doubts in his rival at the beginning of the match. Despite being seen below most of the first sleeve, finally Altug was able to turn around a first set that looked very ugly for the Turkish tennis player.

A tight 7-5 forced Carabelli to come from behind if he wanted to stay alive at the US Open. Things started in the best way for the Argentine in the second set, as he got a break that gave him an advantage in the second set. Nevertheless, the story of the first set was repeated and once again Celikbilek took advantage of the Argentine’s lack of offensive power to turn the second set around. Finally things ended in the worst way for a Ugo Carabelli who fought and fought until the end, but ended up succumbing to the greater offensive power of a Celikbilek much more adapted to fast courts.
