Bundesliga 1. FC Cologne – VfB Stuttgart 0-0: Cologne’s Euro hangover – with blood and anger | Sports

First Europe high, now the little Bundesliga blues…

1. FC Köln played 0-0 against VfB Stuttgart in front of a full house – they are still unbeaten this season (one win, three draws).

Three days after Cologne’s 3-0 win at Hungarian side Fehervar FC and entry into the group stage of the Conference League, FC struggled at the start.

Stuttgart starts the game braver and has the better chances. Such as Silas (23), who awarded two top-class players (23rd/39th).

Lucky for the people of Cologne: Keeper Marvin Schwäbe (27) caught a cream day and kept his box clean in the first half.

Bloody eye-catcher: Colognes Chabot (24) suffered a laceration in a head crash with Mavropanos (5th) and then had to wear a turban.

The central defender can continue playing. And delivers!

By the break he had won 64 percent of his duels and almost headed Cologne into the lead with a turban hit (45+2). He only has to leave the pitch in the 52nd minute. He bangs his head bandage on the floor in anger. Timo Hübers (26) comes in for him.

Which is then badly fouled by Stuttgart’s Luca Pfeiffer (26)! Pfeiffer, who plays for Sasa Kalajdzic (24), who is willing to make a change, and makes his starting eleven debut, hits Hübers with the sole of his ankle. Referee Osmers immediately pulls out red – rightly so!

The next sending off follows in the 72nd: For VfB coach Pellegrino Matarazzo (49)!

He sees yellow and red after raging on the sidelines! Background: Referee Osmers allowed the game to continue, although Mavropanos had fallen to the ground in the Cologne penalty area after contact with Schmitz.

Cologne looks flat in the last few minutes and Stuttgart even has a chance of winning with ten players. But there are no more goals. So VfB have to wait for their first win of the season (one defeat, three draws).
