Buenos Aires Games | Pilar’s basketball Sub 15 shouted champion in the Regional

In the final, they defeated Exaltación de la Cruz 103 to 58 and advanced to the Inter Regional Cup “Buenos Aires” modality. The Sub 17 reached the decisive duel but fell to Exaltación de la Cruz.

This Thursday, Pilar hosted the development of the Regional Basketball Stage of the 31st edition of the Buenos Aires Games, an activity reserved for the so-called “Buenos Aires” Cup modality.

This format, which was included for the first time in this edition in some disciplines and not in all categories, will take the best cast of the province of Buenos Aires to the Evita National Games. Therefore, the winner of this Regional instance advanced to the Inter Regional phase, taking another step towards that goal.

The action, which included teams from the 10 districts that make up Region 6, was organized by the municipal Sports Department and took place in the gyms of the Sportivo Pilar and Presidente Derqui clubs.

“It was another great day and we are happy and proud to have received and organized it. In addition, as we expected, our teams played at a very high level and one of them continues in the competition”, commented the community sports director, Fernando Trillo, while thanking “the Derqui and Sportivo clubs for the transfer of their courts”.

The Under 15 category contest was held at the Presidente Derqui club and Pilar’s team, made up of boys from Derqui, Sportivo and Atlético, won the title after two high-level performances.

At first instance, Pilar beat Luján and in the final thrashed Exaltación de la Cruz (he had beaten General Rodríguez) by 103 to 58. Already at the end of the first stage, the locals won 55 to 27.

The team from Pilar is led by Federico Martínez and is made up of Darko Belaich, Tomás Tabarez, Máximo Giessi, Iñaki Quintana, Franco Arbillaga, Lorenzo Aguirre, Tomás Mandrik, Álvaro Soqueira and Renato López.

For its part, the Under 17 divisional tournament took place at the Sportivo Pilar club and there the party that celebrated was the Exaltación de la Cruz team (represented by the Ingeniero Raver de Los Cardales club).

The exaltacrucenses defeated General Rodríguez and Luján in the previous phases to run into Pilar in the final, who in the semis and in a great game, accounted for Chivilcoy by 75 to 71.

In the final, the visitors started better and got 17 points away but Pilar was filing that difference and the last quarter was point by point. And when it seemed that the Pilarenses were taking him on the attack, Raver ended up sentencing him 65 to 63.

Pillar, led by Eliseo Iglesias, was formed with Ramiro Fiore, Joshua Bianchi, Ilhan Gentiluomo, Santiago Villarreal, Ramiro Almiron, Nicolas Cardozo, Mathias Mondrik, Santino Oscariz, Lautaro Molina and Benjamin Torres.

Beach Voley Futsal
This week two other activities with a presence from Pilar were also held under the “Buenos Aires” Cup format: beach volleyball and 5-a-side football. And both took place in Pilar.

In the Municipal Sports Center of Pilar, the Beach Volleyball Regional Stage was played for the men’s Sub 14 division. The local duo made up of Tiziano Saffer and Luciano Seminara fell in the semifinals against the then champion, Carmen de Areco.

For its part, the women’s Futsal team from Pilar was measured in the final against General Rodríguez, who ended up winning 2-0 and achieving the round pass. That match was played at the Club Municipal Peruzzotti.
