The Brooklyn Nets are interested in free agent Carmelo Anthony, reports Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.
The Nets see veteran Anthony as a good option for their second unit heading into the 2022-23 season. Other names being considered by the Brooklyn brass include Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside, Deveney revealed in his briefing.
Carmelo Anthony, 38, averaged 13.3 points per game and 4.2 rebounds for the Lakers last season, showing he can still make a big contribution off the bench.
For many analysts and fans, it is surprising that the Lakers have shown no interest in having him again for the 2022-23 season.
The fact that adding Anthony only requires a contract for the veterans minimum would make things easier for any team that wants to add him.
The Knicks have also sounded like a possible destination for “Melo” on several occasions.
Carmelo lived 7 very solid years in individual statistics in the Knicks, but not in collective successes, leaving 24.7 points per game, 7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 44% shooting from the floor and 36% in triples. His return will not only boost the marketing of the team, but could work in sports.
