“Brighton” attracts Ecuadorian Estupinjana instead of Kukurelas – Football – Sportacentrs.com

For 24-year-old Estupinyan, “Brighton” paid 17 million pounds (20.2 million euros) and the contract with the defender was concluded for five years.

It is planned that the Ecuadorian will replace Marks Cucurellas, who left for another Premier League team, London Chelsea, in the position of the left guard. The Spanish defender, who joined Brighton before last season, moved to Chelsea less than two weeks ago, with the Londoners paying 55 million pounds (65.3 million euros) for the transfer.

“We are happy to have Pervis Estupinyan in our ranks and he will strengthen our team in a position we wanted to improve,” says Brighton head coach Graham Potter. “In addition to his international experience, he has played for Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League, as well as extensive experience in the Spanish Championship.”

Etupinyan already joined the Premier League team “Watford” in 2016, however, he did not play in the English championship and was loaned to the Spanish teams “Granada”, “Almeria”, “Mallorca” and “Osasuna” for the next four seasons. In 2020, the Ecuadorian joined “Villarreal”, helping the team triumph in the UEFA Europa League.

Since 2019, the defender has played 26 games in the Ecuador national team and scored three goals.

Brighton, who finished ninth in the 20-team competition last season in the Premier League, are in eighth place after two rounds in the new season with four points from two games.

The matches of the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga will be available on the Viaplay platform this season.
