“U18 NISSIN FOODS TOP LEAGUE 2022” opened at Noritz Arena Wakayama on August 27th. For this year’s top league, the results of the previous year’s national tournaments (inter-high school, winter cup) will be converted into points, and the top eight men’s and women’s teams will be selected. Each of the eight men’s and women’s teams will play a round robin league match.

On the 28th, the second day of the tournament, Osaka Kaoruei Jogakuin vs. Anjo Gakuen and Kyoto Seika Gakuen vs. Tokyo Seitoku University were played.

Kaoruhide Osaka, who was second in the Inter-High, took the initiative from the start, and overwhelmed the score with 10-0 by all attacking the ring and winning the rebound. However, Tokyo Narinori regained his defense and found his rhythm, and his shots were able to be scored. Even so, Kaoruhide Osaka did not rush, showing tenacious play in both offense and defense, and by winning the rebound, dominated the game again, finishing the first quarter with a score of 22-18 and conceding seven goals in the second quarter. We finished the first half at 40-21. Kurei Osaka, who maintained a double-digit lead in the second half, won with a final score of 64-52. In Osaka, Kaoru Shimabukuro scored 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Nanami Tsuno and Minaya Hosokawa, who came off the bench, both scored 12 points.

In Kyoto Seika Gakuen vs Tokyo Seitoku University, Kyoto Seika, the winner of the Inter-High school, took the initiative from start to finish, and won 109-68 without allowing a lead. In addition to international students Izoje Uche (17 points and 16 rebounds) and Dimaro Jessica (27 points and 19 rebounds), ace Yuka Yagi also led the team with 19 points and 17 rebounds. In addition, a total of 5 players, including Mei Hashimoto and Shioka Kawachi, showed their success with more than 17 points.

So far, four schools, Osaka Kunei Jogakuin, Anjo Gakuen, Kyoto Seika Gakuen, and Tokyo Seitoku University, have played two games each, and Osaka Kunei and Kyoto Seika have started the tournament with two consecutive wins.

*Since last year, the “U18 Nissin Foods Kanto Block League” has been held with Nissin Foods Co., Ltd. for the purpose of nurturing and strengthening the U18 generation and enhancing the competitive environment. This year, the second year, the “U18 Nissin Foods Top League” was newly established, and the participating blocks of the “U18 Nissin Foods Block League” were expanded to four blocks: Kanto, Tokai, Chugoku, and Shikoku.
