Basketball player Theis is aiming for trial training at VfL Wolfsburg – dpa

Bbasketball professional and NBA finalist Daniel Theis would like to do an internship in football. “My goal is to do a trial at VfL Wolfsburg for the next one or two years,” said the 30-year-old Theis in the “Wunderbar together” podcast, which will be released on Wednesday. He has already contacted Wolfsburg’s sports director Marcel Schäfer in this regard. “I’ve already recommended him to give me a trial session when I have time.”

The Indiana Pacers professional already has precise ideas for the unit with Maximilian Arnold, Lukas Nmecha and Co. “The question is: How long would you do something like this? I would definitely get a day or two like that. I have one goal: to score a goal in a training game. Then I’ll run off the field anyway and I’m done,” said Theis, who comes from Braunschweig.

With a view to the basketball European Championships at home (September 1 to 18) with games in Cologne and Berlin, Theis said: “Playing an European Championship at home is something great. It’s about time we put something on the floor. We travel the least, we know everything, we have a good team together.” Germany already has to deal with top teams like European champions Slovenia, France and Lithuania in the group phase.
