Last Sunday it was time for baseball again in Ellwangen and the Virngrund Elks hosted third-placed Füssen at home. After the double win against the Augsburg Gators, the TSV team started again after a two-week break. The weather was right, as was the mood, and around 40 spectators were looking forward to another afternoon of baseball.

Game one started with a bang and the guests from Füssen scored two points in the first inning. But the offensive of the Elks was also very motivated and they brought runners to base immediately, only to score four points with hits from Ludwig Behr and Pascal Handschuh. On the other hand, however, they did not give up and the Bavarians managed to score two points again with hits and long shots on the pitcher of the Ellwangen, Jonathan Conzelmann. A gripping game at eye level and an intermediate score of 4:4 made you want more. In this inning, too, the Elks brought runners to base and Leopold Behr took the lead with a long shot.

As at the beginning of the game, the guests managed to score a few more points with long shots and thus the Bavarians were 7:10 at the end of the fourth inning. The offensive of both teams decreased a bit and after a good performance by Jonathan Conzelmann, Johannes Jakob took over the ball as a thrower. The team from Ellwangen scored another point in inning number seven, which, however, was not enough to win due to three more points from the guests in the last inning, and the team from Füssen ended up with a final score of 8:14.

For the second game of the day, Leopold Behr got the ball as a pitcher for Ellwanger, who found the game very well and the guests from Füssen could not score a point in the first four innings of the game.

But the offensive of the Elks also struggled and could not cause any damage up to this point, which kept the game full of tension. Finally, the team from Füssen managed to get the first point of the game in the fifth inning. This also awakened the offensive of the Elks and, with good decisions at bat and a hit by Jonas Vaas, they brought home two points, which meant the lead.

After an outstanding performance by Leopold Behr, Alexander Wanzek took over the hill and, as usual, brought home the 2:1 victory for the Elks. The people of Ellwangen are now on a two-week break and will then be visiting the Munich Caribes on August 20th.

Elks: Jonathan Conzelmann, Emil Behr, Leopold Behr, Ludwig Behr, Claudius Schiele, Johannes Jakob, Rene Armbruster, Chris Bertuch, Alexander Wanzek, Pascal Handschuh, Nikolas Hallek, Chris Thier, Simon Baur, Jonas Vaas
