Barça warned De Jong that his new contract would have evidence of criminality

Follow the soap opera Frenkie de Jong. According to ‘The Athletic’, Barça informed the Dutch footballer and his entourage on July 15 that his new contract signed with the previous Board of Directors and that it meant the deferral of part of his salary due to the pandemic would have “clear evidence of criminality“.

According to this information, Barça asked the footballer to cancel the agreements and return to the terms prior to this renewal to normalize his situation. In any case, the Blaugrana club sees unfeasible to be able to assume the payment of the current salary of the footballer and they are trying to lower it.

‘The Athletic’ adds that Barça would be studying legal action, although they prefer to reach a new agreement with the footballer. For now, both De Jong and his environment are not too in favor of lowering their salary understanding that they already did it in the past making a great effort and that now it would be their turn to collect the back wages from this course. The Blaugrana club wants De Jong to continue, but they only see it as possible if the Dutchman regularizes his situation. Barça has also asked for a effort to Busquets, Pique y Jordi Alba so that they lower their salaries so that the salary limit can be controlled.

In the event that De Jong does not want to negotiate this reduction, Barça will open the doors wide for him to negotiate his departure towards the clubs that have been interested in him. Chelsea and Manchester United have made proposals to sign him, but for now the player does not want to leave, so the situation is very entrenched and the club needs to control salaries in order to register the signings.
