At last! Figo told the truth about his move from Barcelona to Real Madrid

The legendary player from Portugal, Louis Figo, has its own documentary Netflix and there he reveals the truth about one of the most controversial signings in football history. You have to remember that Figo went from Barcelona to Real Madrid, two clubs that hold one of the oldest rivalries in world football.

In 1998, Luis Figo was the most coveted player in the world and in that year he starred in one of the scenes that went around the world. Figo went out to the balcony of the Gothic Palace of the Generalitat, the headquarters of the Presidency of Catalonia, wearing the uniform of his club and with dyed azulgrana and yellow hair and, in front of a fervent crowd, he chanted with the microphone in hand: “Whites, crybaby, congratulate the champions! ”, this after the title of the Catalan team in the Spanish league.

Two years later, Figo arrived at the Camp Nou, the Barcelona campus, wearing the shirt of the Real Madrid in the midst of the most hostile environment seen in football.

Figo was the first player to belong to the generation of the Galactics of the Los Blancos team and at the time fHe was the most expensive and highest paid footballer in the world, and also the most hated man in Catalonia.

Well, Netflix reveals its version of the transfer that caused a stir in Spanish football, in a special entitled: “The Luis Figo case”.

In Netflix’s review of the documentary, it mentions that it contains statements by Figo and the men who negotiated his controversial transfer.

“The signing of the century is a complex account of behind-the-scenes negotiations, a historic sports rivalry and a deep cultural divide,” says the statement issued by Netflix.
