The Palio delle contrade is a sporting event, born however with the aim of encourage the sociality of the participants and all those who attendwhich takes place in the Oltresarca and in which all the inhabitants of Bolognano, Vignole and Pratosaiano can participate, which are divided into six districts: Vignole, Mòri, Gambor, Gazi, Trapiom and Rover.
The districts compete in mountain biking, running, 5-a-side football, volleyball, tug-of-war and, from the 2013 edition, also in swimmingwhich however represents a separate competition held in July.
The victory in a discipline assigns 8 points to the district, the second classified receives 6, the third 5, the fourth 4, the fifth 3, the sixth 2. Given the spirit of the event, the regulations are designed to reward more the number of participants who do not perform of a sporting nature.
The contrada with the highest overall score wins the Palio. It should be noted, however, that before starting the event, each contrada must play a wild card on a discipline.
The joker, which cannot be played on a specialty won the previous year, allows you to multiply the score obtained in that discipline by 2. The district that won the Palio the previous year, on the other hand, can play a joker that allows it to multiply the score obtained in the discipline “only” for 1.5, in order to favor the victory of other districts.
The organization of the event is managed by the Circolo Ricreativo Bolognano, with the support of other local voluntary associations, such as the parish oratory of San Floriano, the Cngei scouts of Arco and the Polisportiva San Giorgio.
