Andy Roddick talks about Serena Williams’ career ending at the US Open.

US tennis legend Andy Roddick says he wants Serena Williams to leave the tournament with a bang and admits it will be ‘weird’ to consider every US Open match Williams has potentially been the last of her career .

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, is ready to end her career in front of her home crowd at the US Open. In 2012, Roddick ended his professional career at Flushing Meadows.

“It’s obvious that Serena [Williams] will be honored as long as she is in the tournament, and that’s normal. I would love nothing more than to see her give us chills in week one, but it will be a bizarre scenario, just like every game could be her last.

Mine was a beep on the radar but I kind of liked that in 2012 when I retired during the tournament. I loved it. Hopefully she can enjoy those innocent moments along the way, because there’s obviously going to be a huge hype mechanism around her,” Roddick told the New York Post.

Roddick can’t wait to see Williams and Cori Gauff.

Williams isn’t exactly seen as a favorite for the US Open title, but Cori Gauff, the 12th-ranked American, could make some noise at Flushing Meadows.

This year, Gauff has proven that she is capable of making a great Grand Slam run. At the French Open, Gauff reached her first final before losing to Iga Swiatek.

On the men’s side as well, Roddick is eager to see how Carlos Alcaraz performs. “How Coco Gauff comes out of this will be key, I think. She has progressed, but we are waiting for this huge breakthrough.

On the men’s side, the electric young man to watch is Carlos Alcaraz. I think he’s going to win several Grand Slams,” Roddick added.
