An enterprising Racing, but still no victory

The tops

Flying Diallo. Against Monaco, Habib Diallo had already flown into the sky of La Meinau. Thomas Delaine had distilled a cross at the far post which the Senegalese had converted with a header by taking the upper hand over Ruben Aguilar. The Senegalese, not very successful since, did it again this Wednesday evening. This time it was Sanjin Prcic who looked for him in the box. And “Flying Diallo” once again spread its wings to eat Pallois – excuse me – in an aerial duel. The head, perfect, left Alban Lafont without reaction.

Intentions in the game.- We had found Racing amorphous at the Abbé-Deschamps stadium, it was a completely different face that the Strasbourg residents displayed this Wednesday evening. From the kick-off, they showed a communicative aggressiveness. In the game, too, they are also to be credited with greater control, especially in their offensive approach. The ball flowed better and the pistons were better fed. All that was needed was greater efficiency to kill the suspense on the few badly negotiated counter-attack balls in the second half. We still found, a little, the Racing of the first half of 2022.

Prcic again influential.- He had been put under the extinguisher by his opponents since the start of the season, sometimes suffering from the individual marking which was inflicted on him to prevent him from launching the Strasbourg possession sequences. Substitute at kick-off, Sanjn Prcic made a remarkable entry at the relay of Dimitri Liénard. Decisive passer on Habib Diallo’s goal, he was very clean technically and regained his role as regulator in the midfield. A good omen for the future because Racing needs its metronome to shine.

Les flops

A new injury in defense.- We know that the Strasbourg defense is not spared from injuries at the start of the season. Against Nantes, Julien Stéphan already had to do without three pivotal elements since Gerzino Nymasi (hip), Lucas Perrin (ischio) and Maxime Le Marchand (head) could not apply. It was therefore a baroque three-man defense – Pierre-Gabriel-Doukouré-Djiku – which was aligned at kick-off. Alas, after about twenty minutes, captain Dimitri Liénard asked to leave, hit in the right hamstring. We hope that this is only an alert and that the infirmary will not be filled with a fifth defensive element since the right piston Karol Fila has been treating pubalgia for several weeks.

Diarra less rare.- Each time he came into play this season, Habib Diarra had brought something. Last Saturday, at Abbé-Deschamps, he tried to shake the coconut tree before ending the game in the three-way hinge. For his second tenure of his career in Ligue 1, the Mulhousien did not miss everything, far from it, but he brought less than what we were entitled to expect from him, especially in recovery. To his credit, two percussions which brought two dangerous centers into the Nantes area. Can do better.

The escaping victory.- Racing finally believed it had it but its first victory of the season slipped away from under its nose in the last moments, on a flash from Mohamed in the Alsatian area. With three points in five matches, the counter is running slowly, too slowly. If the game produced this evening is good news, it must still be validated on the accounting plan. We hope that this first success will happen very quickly to definitely get the Alsatian season off the ground.
