Alba starts team training on August 27th

The German basketball champion Alba Berlin starts on August 27th the mission title defense. The two newcomers Gabriele Procida and Yanni Wetzell will take part in the first team training session, as Alba announced on Thursday.

In the days before, the players can undergo voluntary individual workouts and medical checks at the accident hospital in Berlin.

Only later do the national players who take part in the European Championship, which takes place from September 1st to 18th, join. The Berliners could then be missing up to five players in the preparation. Maodo Lô and Johannes Thiemann are in Germany’s provisional squad, Tamir Blatt and Yovel Zoosman could play for Israel and Jaleen Smith for Croatia.

The series of friendlies begins for the German champions with a closed game on September 4th against the Danish record champions Bakken Bears. As in the previous year, the team will compete in the two-day preparatory tournament in Paris and will compete on September 10th and 11th with the EuroLeague teams Maccabi Tel Aviv and Asvel Villeurbanne as well as host Paris Basketball, who will compete in the EuroCup.

On September 17, the albatrosses travel to a test at the Löwen Braunschweig, to which no spectators are allowed either. A week later, the Berliners received the BBL promoted Rostock Seawolves in the MBS Arena Oranienburg.

Three days later, Alba opens the new season with the match against the Veolia Towers Hamburg in the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Alba’s EuroLeague season begins on October 7 with a home game against Partizan Belgrade at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
